Thursday Thirteen...Week #94

We are really not very big on watching tv in our house, but we each have our own little vices and our own favorite stations and shows. I try not to think about how much that satellite bill is every month, just so we can all get our one or two favorite stations. Here is a list of the top 13 things that are most likely to be playing if our tv is on.

13. Hoarders...Honestly, I rarely watch this, but needed one last show to finish off the list. Some nights, when I can't sleep, I will find this show on tv and will watch with morbid curiosity, until I pass out.

12. Prime Country...Sirius radio station that plays 80's and 90's country music. If the tv is on during the day, about 95% of the time this is what is playing. Until Sirius launches their holiday music stations, then I will listen to that all day. I love Christmas music!

11. Boardwalk Empire...I have personally never watched an episode, but hubby likes it and watches when he remembers that it's on.

10. Spongebob Squarepants...I HATE this show. I am pretty sure watching it kills brain cells. Unfortunately, everyone else in the family finds it amusing. It's on the tv right now. It's driving me nuts! UGH!

9. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...My grandson's favorite show from the time he was born. He gets so excited and happy when it comes on.

8.Little House on the Prairie...My 10 y/o is addicted to this show. She watches the reruns on the Hallmark channel and she has been known to spend hours during a rainy weekend watching episodes on her computer. I suppose there are much worse things she could be interested in.

7. America's Next Top Model...Don't see the attraction myself, but my 13 y/o likes it and has been known to watch marathons on the weekend.

6. NFL...From mid-September until the final moments of the Super Bowl, my husband and myself usually spend every Sunday (and Monday, and the occasional Saturday and Thursday) parked in front of the tv, watching football. I am a big Indianapolis Colts fan and he is a huge New England Patriots fan. Considering the team rivalry, there is some interesting times in our house.

5. True Blood...Every Sunday night during the summer, my husband and myself shuffle the rugrats off to bed, or at least to their rooms, so that we can rot our minds with what we affectionately refer to as vampire porn. The acting is bad and the story lines are absurd. It's like a train wreck that you can't look away from. As an added bonus...Eric Northman is HOT!

4. Monday Night Raw...WWE is not my cup of tea, but my husband and kids are addicted. Unfortunately for them it comes on opposite DWTS, so they must retire to the upstairs tv while I watch my show on the big screen. They anxiously await 9:00 when they can move downstairs and watch the last hour without squinting.

3. Cake Boss...Buddy can be a jerk sometimes (ok, more than just sometimes) but BOY! Is he talented or what? I love watching him and his staff put together one of their masterpieces.

2. Billy the Exterminator...The whole family loves this show. Honestly, I can't tell you what the actual reason for that is. In actuality, a show about someone exterminating roaches, rats, mice, snakes, etc. should not be considered entertainment. But it is. We tune in every week to see Billy and/or Ricky battle whatever beastie is menacing some innocent family.

1. Dancing with the Stars...My own personal tv addiction. It's a horrible show, can in no way be considered an actual dance competition, and the jokes are atrocious. Yet, I am addicted to it. It's a sickness! Or perhaps I just want to ogle Maks.

I'm so sick of America's Next Top Model. Love Tyra though.

Enjoy your day!

I was watching Broadwalk Empire, but I grew tired of it, I don't know, wasn't my cup of tea. Now TRUE BLOOD on the other hand...awesomeness!

Spongebob - I agree, this *must* kill brain cells.

True Blood - My boyfriend has enticed me to watching and I too refer to it as vampire porn.

Speaking of Vamp Porn - have you read any Laurell K. Hamilton books? I prefer the Anita Blake series over Merry Gentry, but both are stellar series!

I like Spongebob. Well, I don't mind it anyway. I got tired of it after the first ten years.

What a fun list. I whole-heartedly agree with #10 and I was so glad when my son was no longer interested. Same goes for Barney and I think I'd have to be committed were I forced to watch Yo Gabba Gabba (or whatever the heck it's called). Your #13 made me laugh. As gross as it is, there is something about that show that grabs my attention and holds it . . .

Great list! We love True Blood here and I swear my son's first word was Spongebob!

Football is the one of the main reasons I miss cable (TCM, USA and ABCFam being three more). It's interesting that you mentioned The Mickey Mouse Club as I am currently reading Why? Because We Still Like You: An Oral History of the Mickey Mouse Club. Not usually into bios, but so far it's been pretty interesting.

If I were to do 13 TV shows I'd have to go back into the '80s because I don't watch TV very often. However, I sometimes watch Little House reruns. At least it is not violent.

I've never understood SpongeBob either. Luckily I don't have kids so it's easy to avoid!

I love watching the Cake Boss, and there's another one where three teams compete in making a certain theme cake. Winner gets 10,000 smackeroonies.
Some of those cakes are amazing.
Happy T13!

Hmm. It's always interesting to find out what people watch. :) We used to see lots of Sponge Bob too. Thanks for sharing.

I don't watch any of those shows... well, I snuck a peek at Hoarders once, but other than that. But I have plenty of vices of my own, like Modern Family and Weeds...

Happy TT!

Wow. I have to say with the exception of Little House on the Prairie, I've never watched any of these. Maybe a few minutes of DWTS (because my mom enjoys it) and that's it. Then again, some of these are pretty new, and I'm not in the States to see 'em.

All the shows I like tend to go away after a season or two. Things like "The Riches" for example. ...sigh...

Must be nice to have sirius music channels :) Does it tie into your sirius acct, if you have one? or it's just apart of the satellite pkg? We have the normal cable music channels but the tv is rarely tuned to them, as I only like a handful.

Looks like Mickey Mouse has been around in forever. He is my son's favorite. I enjoyed watching Mickey when I was a kid.
